[GumboEvent.org press release] Great food has always come out of Bayou country, and unfortunately, Louisiana also has its share of natural disasters, mainly flooding.  Historic flooding has hit the Bayou state once again. Financial and spiritual relief is needed.

Please be a part of a nationwide gumbo cooking fundraiser on Sept. 10. Dioceses and parishes across the country are committing to the simple idea of cooking big pots of gumbo and selling it as a fundraiser.  The goal is to gather your teams and sell gumbo in order to send the proceeds for direct relief in Louisiana. Perhaps you can also pass an additional donation plate in your services for people who would like to contribute.

It will be fun, easy to accomplish, and impactful.  Think outside the box as to who else in your community could be a part of this gumbo cooking sales team in schools, community centers, and workplaces.

Make your teams and get cooking Saturday, Sept. 10.

For more information go to the Gumbo Event website.

Bon Appetite!
