Weaving Together – 190 years of St Paul’s outreach ministry

The St. Paul’s community is invited to participate in an intergenerational service opportunity: making mats for individuals experiencing homelessness. This event will provide fellowship, refreshments, and hands-on service — a single opportunity to live out our rule of life: Growing in Relationships, Growing in Service, Growing in Christ.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in each stage of the mat-making process, including flattening, folding, cutting, and tying plastic bags into “plarn” (plastic yarn). Those with relevant skills are also welcome to crochet, weave, or knit the plarn into finished mats.
This event is designed for participants of all ages, from young children to older adults. Because the mat-making process requires many hands working together, all levels of involvement are valuable and appreciated.

Meals: Lunch and snacks will be provided.
What to Bring: Participants who own a Q-size crochet hook are encouraged to bring it.
Time Commitment: While we welcome participants for the full morning, any amount of time contributed — including a single hour — is greatly appreciated and helpful to this effort.
