Sharing Strength, Faith and Hope @ St. Patrick’s, Zachary

October 30, 2026

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, one of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church’s youngest parishioners is using her voice to share a powerful story of courage, faith, and hope.

Maxine “Max” Cardinale, a parishioner and acolyte at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and the 2026 Louisiana Cinderella Miniature Miss, recently sat down for cupcakes and conversation with a very special member of the St. Patrick’s family, Ms. Phyllis LeBlanc.

Ms. Phyllis serves as the Assistant Director of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School and is currently battling breast cancer. During their heartfelt conversation, she openly shares her personal journey, offering a glimpse into the challenges, strength, and courage that come with facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

The interview was featured by the Louisiana Cinderella organization as part of its “Think Pink Thursday” Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiative, highlighting the importance of awareness, compassion, and supporting those affected by breast cancer.

What began as a simple conversation over cupcakes became a meaningful opportunity to listen, learn, and shine a light on someone who is such an important part of the St. Patrick’s community.

We invite everyone across the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana to take a few minutes to watch Max’s interview with Ms. Phyllis and hear her story firsthand. Her willingness to share her journey is a reminder of the importance of compassion, encouragement, and the strength found in community.

Please take a moment to watch the accompanying video and join us in keeping Ms. Phyllis, and all those affected by breast cancer, in your thoughts and prayers: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1403004768219997
