The Rev. Annie Knazs Jung, rector at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, New Orleans, teamed up with Grace Rose (Little Box of Good News Grant Manager) and Lauren Dunn (Diocesan Youth Coordinator) to pull off something pretty awesome: the very first Second Sunday, a brand-new gathering bringing teens together from across the diocese for a night of games, connection, and worship.
They dug into the Parable of the Sower—talking about what “seeds” they’re planting, what each person brings to the group, and what they hope will take root in community. Then competition ensued: a cornhole-style showdown where only beanbags landing in the “good soil” scored points. Miss your spot, and the “birds” swooped in to steal it for the other team. (Turns out the Parable of the Sower hits different when there’s a scoreboard involved.)
To wrap up the night, the teens grabbed their phones and got creative, filming social media reels to officially launch Second Sunday to the world.
Mark your calendars:
Second Sunday returns August 9, 5:30–7:30 PM at St. Andrew’s. All teens welcome!
