  This Sunday our choir will lead us in an Advent Lessons and Carols. This service of readings followed by corresponding hymns is intended to help prepare us for Christmas. The readings will begin with Old Testament prophecy of the coming Messiah, and go through New Testament accounts of the angel appearing to Mary, and Jesus' birth. The readings end with his baptism by John. Our handbells will be with us to play also.

  Join us for this beloved service of Christmas carols and the biblical story of the birth of Jesus.

• Sunday, December 19 at 4:30 pm

  St. James (Baton Rouge), 205 N Fourth St
  Join the choirs of St. James Episcopal Church in their annual offering of A Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols on Sunday, Dec. 19. This candlelit service, modeled on the famed annual tradition of Kings’ College, Cambridge, is a feast of seasonal music and readings from scripture. The service will be preceded by a half-hour organ recital at 4:30pm played by St. James’s Director of Music, Shannon Gallier. The service begins at 5pm.
