Below you will find a list of Lessons and Carols being offered throughout the Diocese of Louisiana this Advent Season.

    Join us for the beloved service of Carols interspersed with the bible stories of the season. Anthony Sears conducts, Jarrett Follette plays the organ. Special guest organist Loriane Llorca plays the prelude and postlude.

    St. Alban's Chapel (Baton Rouge), Corner of Highland & Dalrymple
    Join the St. Alban's Chapel Choir for a reflective service of Advent Hymns and Carols. Enjoy singing along to your favorite Advent hymns, and hear our choir perform stunning Advent anthems/carols.

    Join us for a simple service of Lessons and Carols with a potluck soup dinner to follow.


  • Sunday, December 15 at 10:00 am
    St. Matthew's (Houma), 239 Barrow Dr.
    The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Scripture and song that dates to the late 19th century. This Sunday we’ll enjoy an abbreviated version of this service. Rather than 9 passages, we will listen to 4 scripture lessons, which summarize salvation history as foretold by the prophets and culminate in the good news of the Gospel. Each lesson is followed by a carol or other musical offering that reflects on the lesson’s message. The service concludes with a celebration of Holy Eucharist.

    A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols presented by the Christ Church Choir

    Trinity Church (New Orleans), 1329 Jackson Ave
    Trinity’s Festival Of Lessons and Carols A Celebration of the Season featuring Community Mission Partners Reception to follow in the Parish House. All are invited to this special evening service to sing along to favorite Christmas carols, led by the Trinity Choir and Trinity’s mighty pipe organ. Mission partners will be on hand to join in this Christmas celebration of music, stories, and community. Everyone will have the opportunity to support our partners and their work in the city through a collection during the service. Come celebrate the good work of: Project Lazarus, Eden House, Hope House, Kingsley House, Lantern Light, St. Thomas Community Health Center, Crescent Care Food for Friends, Jesus Project Ministries.

    A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols followed by a potluck supper

    The Annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.  This seasonal choral highlight features our fantastic choir and friends.  Pre-service music begins at 5:45 PM and the service begins at 6:00 PM. Conductor & Organist: Dr. Matthew Wood


  • Sunday, December 22 at 5:00 pm
    St. James (Baton Rouge), 205 N Fourth St
    A full classical, musical celebration of the season. This years’ service at St. James will feature music of David Willcocks, Benjamin Britten, Harold Darke, Elizabeth Poston, and Paul Manz. The service will be followed by a champagne & shortbread reception at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall Parlor.
