  • Advent Wreath Making

    Haul out the holly! Sunday, December 1st marks the first Sunday of Advent in 2019, and also ushers in the annual St. James Advent Wreath Making event! All ages are invited to join in the fun in Bishops Hall following the 8 a.m. service, and prior to and after the 10:30 a.m. service. Forms, candles, and greenery will be supplied. Please bring any additional items you would like to add to your Advent wreath décor, such as ribbons and bows.


  • Boxwood & Beignets

    On the first Sunday of Advent, all are invited to assemble fresh boxwood Advent wreaths that will last beautifully throughout the season. In Witter Hall, we'll have activities for the children, plus wreath supplies, beignets, hot chocolate and coffee. Advent candles and prayer devotionals will be on hand, too. Please join us for a St. Luke's Advent tradition! 10 am on December 1.

Friday, December 6, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Chapel front porch on St. Charles Ave. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to meet St. Nicholas and learn the real story of St. Nick. Come... Get your photo taken... a perfect chance for a family Christmas photo. Join in this fun filled season event. Refreshments and goodies too!


  • Meet St. Nicholas
    Sunday, December 08 at 9:15 am
    St. Augustine's (Metairie), 3412 Harring Rd
    St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, is coming to visit the children of St. Augustine's! Sunday Dec. 8th, 9:15 am in Byrd Hall, St. Nicholas will tell kids about his life, read them a story, answer questions, and spend time with each child. St. Nicholas will then lead the children into the 10:30 Holy Eucharist (after they leave their shoes outside!). The Rev. Canon Shannon Manning will preach a children's homily in lieu of the "regular" sermon. After Holy Communion, kids will leave church where there will be a surprise in their shoes.


  • The Art of Advent

    Join St. Luke's, Baton Rouge, at 10 am on Sunday, December 8, to draw inspiration from accomplished artist John August Swanson, then create your own Advent art. Designed for adults and children, this event promises to be a meaningful reflection on the beauty and mystery of God’s incarnation in Jesus of Nazareth.


  • Baton Rouge Downtown Pilgrimage

    The Downtown Pilgrimage begins at 5.30 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and arrives at First Presbyterian around 6.15 pm.   • Christmas Cookies & Reindeer Games

    Christmas Cookies & Reindeer Games: Come decorate sugar cookies and play fun Christmas-themed games for all ages. Prizes are promised! 10 am in Witter Hall.


  • Annual Hayride, Bonfire, Smores and Tube Steak Event

    Church of the Nativity (Rosedale), 302 Laurel St
    It's that time of year when The Church of the Nativity will hold its Annual Hayride, Bonfire, Smores and Tube Steak event for our Youth Program!  This year's event will be held immediately following morning services and on the grounds of the church and rectory.  EVERYONE is invited to attend and you are strongly encouraged to bring your family, friends and anyone else.  Hotdogs, chili, hot chocolate and popcorn will be provided.  The schedule of activities includes a bounce house, face painting, hayride, bonfire, s'mores making and many more games.


  • Algiers Point Christmas Celebration (Mt. Olivet, New Orleans)

    Readings, Snacks, Caroling, and More! Fun for kids and adults starts in Mt. Olivet’s Parish Hall with readings of Gift of the Magi and the Nativity Story, with your host, The Elf on the...bookcase? Then join in the choir as we walk to The Suites at Algiers Point Assisted Living to serenade the residents. The kids will pass our treats! Step back to the church hall for snacks and socializing! There’ll be hot chocolate for the kids and for the adults…SMOKING HOT BISHOP! (a festive mulled wine). No cost. Free to all.
