The Rev. Canon Lucinda Ashby of Idaho will serve as dean of the newly formed for the newly formed High Desert School for Ministry, a joint project of the dioceses of Eastern Oregon and Idaho.
The school, a three-year local formation program for ordained ministry in the diaconate or priesthood, will welcome its first students in November.
The partnership is part of the Iona Collaborative, a local formation program developed by Seminary of the Southwest. Students from both dioceses will meet together nine times per year at Ascension School Camp and Conference Center in Cove, Oregon, for instruction.
The school’s curriculum includes Holy Scriptures, Church history, theology, ethics, Anglican studies, liturgics, and practice of ministry. Students also will also be taught homiletics, multiculturalism, congregational life, spiritual practices, and pastoral care.
