Successful Earth Day at Solomon Center

April 25, 2026 at Solomon Center

Despite a stormy start, the Environmental Evangelism Commission was determined to make its Earth Day Celebration happen—and it did. Once the rain passed, participants made their way to Solomon Center, where Fr. Fred Devall led a special bird walk. Woodpeckers, ducks, and many other birds made their post-storm appearance.

Throughout the day, there were plenty of opportunities to paint with natural materials, get a little messy, and plant native species.

A special thank you to St. Michael’s parishioner Nanette Ledet, who shared her knowledge of monarchs, guiding us through the butterfly life cycle and offering practical ways to help sustain this endangered species.

The sky fully cleared for pool time (FYI—the pool is in glorious shape and ready for spring and summer swims! We’re looking forward to seeing it full and lively during the Little Box of Good News Family Camp on Labor Day Weekend).

Solomon Center provided lunch from the grill right on time!

More than anything, the day was made whole by being together—creating, digging in the dirt, and fellowshipping—surrounded by God’s beauty.

“How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.”

Psalm 104:24-25

Twenty-six times we hear these words in this psalm. If the Bible says something once, it’s significant. Twice, and we better listen up. Twenty-six is the equivalent of God calling us by our full name, middle one and all. This is important. These six words....(View...

Parenting is perhaps the greatest act of faith I’ve undertaken. Let’s be honest: In some ways, it’s a crapshoot. In a week of fights, punishments, and long, heaving sighs, each of our children surprised us with sweet fruits. At the afterschool program....(View this...
