Position Summary:
The Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Rosedale is seeking a part-time Youth Minister to start and develop a youth program and help with youth on Sundays in exchange for free living accommodations in a modern, fully equipped and furnished rectory. In addition to leading Sunday School, six hours of work, more or less, per week required.
Nativity rectory is a beautiful Acadian-style cottage, only 12 years old, with 1800-square feet of fully furnished living space with central AC and all modern appliances. It has three bedrooms—two upstairs and one down (currently used as a den) and could accommodate up to a couple with two children. Applicant could keep other full-time or part-time work elsewhere.

Nativity Church was founded and built in 1859. It is nestled under ancient live oaks and surrounded by sugar cane fields, a truly beautiful setting. We are a warm and welcoming congregation, proud to worship in the same sanctuary as many faithful generations before us, but our mission remains the same: to express Christ’s love to all who enter our door, and to allow God to prepare us for His work in the world.
As required by the national and diocesan church, all who work with youth will undergo a background check and will be required to do Safe Church training.

Founded in 1957 as a ministry of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, St. Andrew’s is the oldest Episcopal school in New Orleans. It has maintained a strong Episcopal identity throughout its history. We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being. With a student body comprised of students whose families represent an ecumenical and interfaith community, the school strives to incorporate Episcopal theology, liturgy, and customs in ways that speak to students from all backgrounds. St. Andrew’s recognizes that the fundamental lesson of treating every human being with dignity and respect is crucial to our students’ future in the workforce and in the world.
