Hello from your Transition Committee! We are one of the three bodies tasked with finding, electing and installing the XII Bishop of the Diocese of Louisiana. The Search and Nominating Committee will wrap up their work at the end of March by presenting their nominees to the Standing Committee. And that’s when our work as the Transition Committee begins. In reality, we’ve been working in the background since our formation in July 2021.

Our first task will be to share our nominees with you, our diocesan family. We will accomplish this by posting written and video bios of the nominees and some Q&A on our webpage: edola.org/bishopsearch/, and also on YouTube. We’ll let you know by email when all of this is available.

In late April we will facilitate several opportunities for anyone in the diocese to see and hear the candidates in person during our “Walkabout Week”. This will also enable the candidates to see our diocese from an up-close and personal perspective. Formal events will take place in the evenings of April 25, 26, and 27 in Baton Rouge, Covington, and Metairie respectively. More information: edola.org/bishopsearch/walkabouts/

And then just three weeks after the Walkabout Week, the delegates to the Electing Convention will meet at Christ Church Cathedral on May 14th to elect our XII Bishop. Please continue to keep all involved in your prayers.

Throughout the next nine months, you can expect to hear from us regularly to keep you up to date with our work.

A Prayer for the Selection of Our Next Bishop

Heavenly Father, you oversee all that we say and do. Guide the people of the Diocese of Louisiana in the selection of our next bishop, that we may be led by your Holy Spirit. Direct us toward the person you desire to fill this role. Lead us to a person of integrity, a person of prayer, and a person of faith, who is capable of carrying out your wishes for our future. Above all, may our new leader be one who is willing to receive your unconditional love, and pass it on to those near and far. We pray this in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. AMEN.
