Christwood Atrium Gallery: The Louisiana Watercolor Society Winter Juried Member Show
Christwood, 100 Christwood Blvd, Covington
November 3-January 4
The Atrium Gallery at Christwood in Covington will feature ‘The Louisiana Watercolor Society Winter Juried Member Show,’ from November 3, 2018 through January 4, 2019.
The show, marking the 50th anniversary of the society, celebrates watercolorist Claire Rohrbough, who died last October at the age of 102. In 2015, Rohrbough was honored by the society for her lifetime body of work.
The recipient of a recent National Watercolor Society award, Carol Creel will act as judge and juror of the show. An artist, photographer, and teacher of watercolor technique, “Carol Creel is about as well qualified a juror/judge as can be found in the State of Louisiana,” said Karen Stakelum, the show chair. “She has painted for more than thirty years, is highly regarded as a technician and teacher and can look at paintings with the critical eye necessary for choosing and curating an exhibit that reflects the best that we have to offer.”
Three awards of excellence and one best-in-show award will be selected.
The opening of the show, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 4;30-6:30pm in the Atrium Gallery on Saturday, November 3.
