The Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Louisiana is pleased to invite you to its 131st ECW Annual
Gathering to be held at Christ Church, Covington, May 18-19, 2018. Our theme this year is: Episcopal Church
Women Light the Way. The scriptural focus comes from the Gospel of Matthew, “Let your light shine before others,
so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) The Annual
Gathering planning team has designed a wonderful program, so join us, and let God’s grace shine through so that others may be moved to love and serve God as we do.

On Friday, May 18, the Choir of Christ Church will lead us in Evensong followed by a welcome reception at the
recently restored St. Cecilia House with music performed by Matt Lemmler, an accomplished pianist, vocalist, arranger, composer, educator and producer who grew up in the lower 9th ward, toured with Andrew Lloyd Weber’s The Phantom of the Opera and sharpened his skills with some of New Orleans finest bandleaders: Bob French and the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band (over 100 years old), Herb Tassin and the Blue Room Orchestra, and master clarinetist Pete Fountain.

Saturday’s keynote speaker will be the Rev. William Miller, a popular author and rector of Christ Church where
the gathering is being held. Miller is the author of The Gospel According to Sam and The Beer Drinker’s Guide to God. He is a dynamic speaker, innovator, and Jazz enthusiast who moved to Louisiana following tenures at churches in the Dioceses of Texas and Hawaii.

We are blessed to have Bishop Morris Thompson with us on Saturday to bring us news about our diocese and to
serve as celebrant at the Festival Eucharist complete with parish banners. The Honored Woman Program will be
featured Saturday along with several workshops to make your minds, bodies, and spirits glow.

Overnight guests may take advantage of special event rates at the Courtyard by Marriott, a short drive from
Christ Episcopal Church. Please review the “Important Details” in the pdf letter (Click here to download) for information on booking a room and other important items.

The Annual Gathering is a nurturing springtime event offering women an opportunity to enjoy one another’s
company, share ideas, and make new friendships among your sisters in Christ. Join us for a wonderful two days.
