DESCRIPTION:St. Francis Episcopal Church and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church are excited to announce their annual St. Francis Day Pet Blessing. This heartwarming event invites all pet owners and their beloved animals for a special blessing\, as well as an opportunity to contribute to a local cause. The Pet Blessing will take place on Saturday\, October 3rd at 9:30 am at St. Francis Episcopal Church\, 726 Maple Street\, Denham Springs. \nAll community Blessing members and their pets are welcome to attend this free event. In honor of St. Francis of Assisi\, the patron saint of animals\, pets of any and all kinds will be blessed. Please ensure all pets are safely contained or leashed for the comfort and safety of everyone attending. \nIn addition to the blessing\, the event will feature a pet food drive to support the Denham Springs Animal Shelter. Donations of Purina Cat\, Dog\, Puppy\, and Kitten food are preferred. The shelter is also collecting newspapers\, old sheets\, and towels to support their daily operations.\nThis annual event serves as a bridge between two churches and a symbol of unity within the community. Whether furry\, feathered\, or scaled\, all pets are invited to participate. Pet photos and stuffies are also welcome. \nSaint Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and the environment because he is known for his love of all creation. Around his feast day\, October 4th\, we bless pets as a way to mark this day and honor his spirit. Because St. Francis also cared deeply for the poor\, we will also be collecting pet food on Saturday for Denham Springs Animal Shelter. Come join us! (Photos and stuffies welcome\, too!)

DESCRIPTION:Deacon Charles deGravelles will be joining other writers and musicians at a Poetry Reading Celebrating Louisiana’s Immigrants and Refugees on Saturday\, October 3\, 10 am to noon at the East Baton Rouge Public Library–Goodwood Branch. \nThe event\, jointly sponsored by the Poetry Society of Louisiana and the Louisiana Organization of Refugees and Immigrants\, is free and open to the public. \n“So many of us have felt helpless as we’ve watched the often unfair treatment of our immigrant friends and neighbors\,” deGravelles said. “The reading is a wonderful way we can come together to celebrate these wonderful people by honoring their cultures and heritage\, and by giving voice to their struggles and sacrifices.” \nThe reading will include work by Louisiana poets\, student poets\, and immigrant storytellers describing their often perilous journeys to get to the United States and their experiences on their way to becoming citizens. \nThe library is located at 7711 Goodwood Blvd\, Baton Rouge\, LA 70806.

SUMMARY:Walking the Mourner's Path\, Facilitator's Training
DESCRIPTION:Grace Memorial Episcopal Church will be hosting training for the individuals to be trained to be facilitators for “Walking the Mourner’s Path” on November 5-7 2026\, from 8:30 am to 5 pm on Thursday and Friday and Saturday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. We are inviting persons interested from across the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana\, as well as community members\, health care professionals\, others who are interested in learning to help people process their grief after a loss which could include a death\, divorce\, loss of relationship\, retirement\, loss of job\, etc. \n“Walking the Mourner’s Path” is a faith-based program that helps churches to reach out and serve those who experience loss and grief in their lives and their communities. The program consists of 8 weekly small groups centered in prayer. Leaders are trained lay and clergy that have been trained by the leaders of the facilitator training school. We are pleased to announce that Catherine Gilbert\, the program director and instructor will be with us during these 3 days. \nThe cost of the program is $275 (early registration which is 30 days prior to the school)\, standard registration $375 (29-10 days prior) and late registration $450. Lunch is included for Thursday and Friday. Registration must be completed on-line. SUMMARY:Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
DESCRIPTION:A pilgrimage to the Holy Land is one of the most powerful experiences in Christian life. Technology allows us to explore these places through video and books\, which is a gift. But\, when possible\, an in-person pilgrimage is different. It changes the pilgrim\, and it deepens the faith of those who hear the stories brought home. \nIn Lent 2027\, we will have the chance to make such a pilgrimage together. Our Diocese has organized Holy Land pilgrimages since 2012. They were paused in 2020\, and now\, by God’s grace\, they will resume. We will visit the Church of the Nativity\, marking the place of Jesus’ birth; the Church of the Holy Sepulcher\, marking his death and resurrection; and the many sacred sites in between. \n\nWe are moving toward the final composition of our pilgrim group\, but it’s not too late to learn more or consider joining us.\nIf you have ever dreamed of walking in the places where Jesus lived and ministered\, we invite you to consider this once-in-a-lifetime\, life-changing spiritual pilgrimage.\n\nFor more information\, please contact Lisa Sibal at Christ Church Cathedral at lsibal@cccnola.org.
