DESCRIPTION:The St. Paul’s community is invited to participate in an intergenerational service opportunity: making mats for individuals experiencing homelessness. This event will provide fellowship\, refreshments\, and hands-on service — a single opportunity to live out our rule of life: Growing in Relationships\, Growing in Service\, Growing in Christ. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to engage in each stage of the mat-making process\, including flattening\, folding\, cutting\, and tying plastic bags into “plarn” (plastic yarn). Those with relevant skills are also welcome to crochet\, weave\, or knit the plarn into finished mats.\nThis event is designed for participants of all ages\, from young children to older adults. Because the mat-making process requires many hands working together\, all levels of involvement are valuable and appreciated. \nMeals: Lunch and snacks will be provided.\nWhat to Bring: Participants who own a Q-size crochet hook are encouraged to bring it.\nTime Commitment: While we welcome participants for the full morning\, any amount of time contributed — including a single hour — is greatly appreciated and helpful to this effort. \nWe hope you will join us for this special morning of community and service.

Sam Hubbard\, Just Love – Greater New Orleans \nThe day will include the following: \n\nPresentations & stories\nDiscussion\nNetworking opportunities\nFree and open to the public\nIncludes continental breakfast and lunch\n\nThe event is free but registration is requested.\nRegister HERE. \nAbout our featured presentations: \nAARON BLOCH\, Jewish Federation of New Orleans\n“From the Torah’s call to care for the stranger to the concept of tikkun olam\, Jewish teachings offer a clear framework for moving values into action. This session connects those ideas to real-world advocacy\, drawing on personal experience in building relationships and organizing around shared priorities. We’ll also look at what it takes to galvanize a community into action around an issue\, including how consensus is built through the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC)\, the democratic body of the local organized Jewish community.” \nAaron is the Director of Jewish Multicultural & Governmental Affairs for the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans. A graduate of Binghamton University\, 2001\, and New York Law School in 2005\, Aaron practiced law in New York for seven years before moving to New Orleans to accept a position with the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) as an Education Pioneers Fellow. During his time at OPSB he focused on school accountability\, the unification of schools under Act 91\, and the formation of a new school at the New Orleans juvenile detention center now known as the Travis Hill School. In 2017\, he left OPSB to work on a New Orleans City Council campaign and has since worked on dozens of local campaigns and ballot initiatives as a strategist\, manager\, digital communications specialist\, and field director. He is admitted into the Louisiana Bar. \nPAIGE DAVIS\, St. Charles Center for Faith + Action\n“In a world divided by extremism and growing in isolation\, our stories can become bridges. Our stories are ways that we can meet one another in empathy and shared purpose. We all play a sacred role in the work of social justice. Faith in action means taking the love we proclaim inside sacred spaces and turning it outward… into advocacy\, into creating equitable spaces for our neighbors\, and into the daily work of justice.” \n\n\nPaige is the Executive Director\, St. Charles Center for Faith + Action. She leads initiatives that bring communities together around justice\, learning\, and meaningful social change. She serves on the board of PFLAG New Orleans\, where she has been an active member for three years supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families. \nTHE REV. SAM HUBBARD\, Just Love  – Greater New Orleans\n“What does it look like when Christian faith expresses itself through curiosity first? This talk will explore how the work of Just Love – Greater New Orleans begins not with having all the answers\, but with asking better questions\, listening well\, and building relationships that lead to meaningful collaboration.Rooted in a personal journey shaped in part by the experience of curiosity being unwelcome in religious spaces\, the presentation considers how faith can become more honest\, relational\, embodied\, and—perhaps most importantly—more curious.” \nSam is a storyteller\, pastor\, chaplain\, and community organizer\, and Movement Leader at JUST LOVE – Greater New Orleans. He believes curiosity is one of the most faithful ways to love\, especially when people have been hurt\, overlooked\, or pushed to the margins by traditional religious spaces. DESCRIPTION:Camp Able New Orleans is a week long camp that’s hosted at Christ Church Cathedral on June 17-20. Camp Able is a ministry that was specifically created to provide a unique camp experience for persons with diverse abilities.\n\nAt Camp Able NOLA\, we will have about 30 campers and 50-70 staff members! We do everything in our power to give each person that walks through the doors the most incredible week of their lives. While the memories and personal experiences are priceless\, Camp Able NOLA does have many costs. To help cover those costs\, we are hosting our 2nd annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser.\nThe Spaghetti Dinner will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday\, May 16th from 4:30pm -7:30 pm.\n\nThe fundraiser will have dinner\, live music\, a “Camp Store”\, and more! Partnering with national nonprofit Undue\nMedical Debt\, the church goal is to raise more than $15\,000 for those in need in the metro\narea. People with medical debt are also three times more likely to experience mental health burdens like anxiety or depression and significantly more likely to skip or delay mental healthcare. \nUndue Medical Debt is a national nonprofit that acquires medical debt belonging to those least able to pay in large\, bundled portfolios for pennies on the dollar\, while also shining a light on the broken system that creates medical debt. On average\, one dollar donated to Undue erases $100 of medical debt. \nFr. Terry estimates that approximately 1\,500 Metro area residents will receive medical debt relief through this initiative if the fundraising goal is met.
