St. Paul's Holy Trinity to Host Liturgical Dance

by Betty Wooddy

A liturgical dance by Dina Ternullo Melley will be presented during the May 11th Pentecost service at St. Paul’s Holy Trinity, New Roads. Melley tours internationally with the Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble under the direction of the Rev’d Robert VerEecke, S.J. In 2002, the ensemble presented sacred dance at World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada which was attended by Pope John Paul II. Melley has also danced with Christ the King Liturgical Dancers, LSU School of Music, Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre and Of Moving Colors. She currently teaches dance at LSU and local studios. She received a BFA in dance from Boston Conservatory.

Sacred dance as worship and prayer has been recognized as a vital part of the spiritual experience and is welcomed by many as an expression of grace which demonstrates the move of the Spirit.  Melley will dance “Send Us Your Spirit” by David Haas and “Here I Am, Lord” by Dan Schutte.

St. Paul’s Holy Trinity Church welcomes visitors for this Pentecost service on May 11 at 9 a.m.
