Bishop's Annual Mission Appeal
by Staff
The 2008 Bishop’s Annual Mission Appeal is the lifeblood for vital ministry initiatives in our own diocese that would otherwise go unfunded. Growing, vibrant programs such as campus ministries, local missions and our relationship with international missions are made possible because of your support. ... The theme of this year’s appeal is from St. Luke and the parable of The Good Samaritan. This year’s appeal highlights the support and services that the diocese and its members provide to one another and to those in other lands.
From the parable of the Good Samaritan…
“Which of these three was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?’ He said, ‘The one who showed him mercy.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go and do likewise.’”
Luke 10:36-37
The 2008 Bishop’s Annual Mission Appeal is the lifeblood for vital ministry initiatives in our own diocese that would otherwise go unfunded. The theme of this year’s appeal is from St. Luke and the parable of The Good Samaritan. This year’s appeal highlights the support and services that the diocese and its members provide to one another and to those in other lands.
“Our own transformation begins when we follow the example of the Samaritan and the instruction of Our Lord to show mercy to all, both neighbor and stranger,” Bishop Jenkins said.
This year’s appeal will support St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Zachary under the leadership of the Rev’d S. Chad Jones; the Episcopal Ministry to Medical Education under the leadership of the Rev’d Dr. Don Owens; and the Maya and Copan Deaneries in the Diocese of Honduras and the Anglican Province of the Congo.
Our ambitious and achievable goal is $225,000, a 10 percent increase over last year’s total. Please give now so that important ministries in our diocese continue to thrive.
